Terms of Service

These terms are the agreement between you and José Silva, Portugal (“we”), who makes and runs Owey. By creating an account or using the app, you accept them. If you do not, please do not use Owey.
What Owey is
Owey is a personal record-keeping tool for expenses and for debts between friends. It is for your own personal, non-commercial use. Owey does not move money. It never touches your bank account, never makes a payment and never holds funds — when you settle up, that happens between you and the other person, outside the app, and Owey only records that you said it happened.
Your account
Give accurate details when you sign up, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else is using your account. One account is for one person. You must be at least 13 years old.
The numbers are yours
You are responsible for what you record. Owey stores and adds up the amounts you give it; it cannot know whether they are right. The AI assistant and the receipt scanner are helpful but not infallible — they misread things — so check what they entered before relying on it. A balance shown in Owey is a record of what you told it, not proof of a debt.
Not financial advice
Nothing in Owey is financial, tax, accounting or legal advice, and it is not a payment service, a bank or a money transmitter. For decisions that matter, talk to somebody qualified.
Fair use
Do not use Owey to break the law, to harass anybody, to store other people’s data without a reason to, or to attack, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service. We may suspend or close accounts that do any of that, or that abuse the AI to a degree that threatens the service for everybody else. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why first.
Owey Plus
New accounts get a 14-day Plus trial with no card and no obligation. When paid subscriptions launch they will be sold through the App Store or Google Play, on their billing terms: they renew automatically until you cancel, and you cancel in your store’s subscription settings. Free tracking, splitting and settling up stay free.
Availability, and no warranty
Owey is provided as is. We work hard to keep it running and to keep backups, but we cannot promise it will always be available, error-free, or that data will never be lost. Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose — the app can export everything you have recorded.
Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, or for a disagreement between you and somebody you split expenses with. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, and your rights as a consumer under EU and Portuguese law are unaffected.
Ending it
You can stop using Owey and delete your account at any time, from Settings → Delete account or through the account deletion page. We may end this agreement if you break these terms, or if we discontinue the app — in which case we will give you reasonable notice and time to export your data.
Changes
These terms may change as the app grows. The effective date above will change with them, and material changes will be announced in the app. Continuing to use Owey after that means you accept the new version.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Portugal, and disputes belong to the Portuguese courts. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country you live in, and you may also use the EU online dispute resolution platform.
